Well it seems that winter has flown by us and many are asking, in fact, where was winter? It seems that we just finished putting away the holiday decorations and now it is time to get the spring gardens ready for another summer. However, even though winter may have passed us by in the blink of an eye, there has been a lot going on both within the State of Texas and of course nationally as well. The state legislature is in session and there has been a lot of work by TNA to continue to look out for the best interests of the nursing profession and for nurses who provide care in so many ways. Hopefully some of you were able to attend Nurse's Day at the Capital; one way for nurses to be able speak directly with those who have influence to improve our practice so that we are not only able to provide safe and equitable care but are able to do by practicing at the top of our license in an environment where nurses can feel safe, without threat of violence and harm.

Here within District 3, the elections for the Board of Directors as well as for the TNA House of Delegates District 3 were held in February. Our new Delegates for TNA District 3 include:

Of course we could not do what we do without those who continue to serve either as Board members or delegates, including:

  • Julie Thomas: Director
  • Denise Black: Director
  • Mary Robinson: Director
  • Yvonne Allen: Director
  • Shakyryn Napier: Past President
  • Orlando Chapa: Delegate
  • Michelle Hampton: Delegate
  • Debbie Phillips: Delegate

Congratulations are also in store for the Great 100 Nurses who are a part of TNA District 3 or practice within District 3. TNA District 3 is proud to be a sponsor for the Great 100 Nurses celebration being held at the Meyerson in April. We will also be celebrating our winners with a special dinner in May. At this time our new District leaders will also be sworn in to assume their duties.

We hope that you will be able to join us for our April General meeting being held Thursday April 13 in the Rutledge Auditorium of Texas Health Harris Methodist Fort Worth Hospital. This will be the last meeting until the fall and we hope to see you there.
